![]() I have now turned off Background Save as well. Update: I have turned off AutoRecover and the problem persists. AutoRecover has a time setting for it, Background saves does not. Note sure which of these might be causing the problem. I notice there are two toggles in the preferences: Allow background saves and Save AutoRecover info. Should I just turn off AutoRecover entirely since it doesn't seem to be working or is there some other way to fix this? Microsoft really sucks at bug fixing and in particular for Mac. ![]() This way, the save operation doesn't interrupt while I work. While you could save every X minutes, I prefer to schedule the save after I've stopped typing for a few seconds. It does support AppleScript though, so you can have a script run periodically to force a save. It says AutoRecover files are kept here: /Users/ /Library/Containers/com.Microsoft/Data/Library/Preferences/AutoRecovery but the folder is empty. Microsoft Word on Mac OS X doesn't support autosave or versions. I've googled this glitch and read it has something to do with AutoRecover files for docs being used with the app. For safety, I wind up doing a "Save As" to the desktop, close the file I'm working on and trash it and then put the newly created file back where the old one is. After it does that, I can't save the doc to its file. doc I'm working on and saving it with a different fie name ~WRD (with numeric code after it).
